Mike checked in from the Tribute out of San Diego. Good fishing right out of the gate this morning put us at 47 Bluefin and 2 Yellowtail for the day. We had great action, but I would have to say that we lost double what we landed due to a lot of different reasons. Couple guys got spooled, weather was choppy, the fish were mean... But, all in all a very fun day and just shy of limits. Home made Lasagna from chef Rhey was a hearty way to top it off 😋.

Mike checked in from the Tribute out of San Diego. We are on our annual 2-Day Pelagic-Sponsored trip with a great group of guys. We had a pretty good start to our morning after very very good nighttime fishing last night--50 bluefin tuna in the dark mostly 60-80 pounders. We dropped the anchor down here this morning and picked away at some really nice grade bluefin 25-50 pounds fish throughout the day. We got all we needed--limits of bluefin here for our trip, and we have 7 yellowtail so far. We're off to try some different species and we'll probably try some bottom fishing before we have to call it a trip. We'll wrap it with you guys later. In the 60 to 80 lb range, really good nighttime fishing if you could put in the work and stay at the rail. This morning they're starting to plunk away, 4 on deck, and have 1 hanging! And they have 30 Bluefin tuna on deck this morning so far!! Nice grade fish, a lot 30 to 40 pounders, a few smaller and a few bigger with one up to about 50 lbs. They got out there to their spot not too long ago and already have round one of Bluefin tuna. 18 Bluefin tuna and 6 yellowtail, in the 30 lb range, on deck, off to a really nice start! The weather is much nicer than predicted, a little rolly but not too bad. The fly line setup is getting it done 25, 30 lb test.
